Every wine has a unique story. A single sip takes you on an unforgettable journey through space and time and impresses you with its diverse aromas and flavours. A veritable treasure trove of wines awaits you in our hotel with wine cellar in South Tyrol: around 400 to 500labels, all hand-picked by host & sommelier David Weissensteiner.
The wine connoisseur: a portrait
The world of fine wines fascinates many, but him in particular. Host & sommelier David took an interest in the different grape varieties, labels and classifications from an early age. Curiosity grew, interest became passion. Flowery Sauvignons, elegant Pinot Noirs and Italian wines from Piedmont, such as Nebbiolo and Barbera, are among his favourite wines. He is particularly fond of wines with an original character and a special terroir. But even after 20 years of tasting and studying wines, he has by no means tasted it all. The world of wine is diverse, and there are always new surprises and treats that David is just waiting to introduce you to.

Wine tasting & cellar aperitif
Set off on a journey of discovery with David: selected wines are tasted at the weekly wine tastings (registration required), and accompanied by small appetisers from the Sonnalp kitchen. While you enjoy, David tells you stories from the world of wine.
By the way! Small tip: if he has time, ask for the “Kelleraperitif”.

Latemar Aperitivo
Every Monday during the summer, together with our hotel neighbours in Obereggen, we invite you to a very special highlight: we enjoy the view together on the viewing platform in the Latemarium at 2,200 m with Prosecco, fruit juices, South Tyrolean speck, Schüttelbrot and musical accompaniment. The ascent with the chairlift is free from 4:30 pm (with a voucher from the hotel).
